Sculpture or cinema?

The newly built site of the Hungarian Open Air Museum Skanzen is dedicated to Transylvanian architecture and folk art and can only be accessed via its own visitor centre and an extravagant cinema pavilion. With this project, architect István Bársony managed to create a new landmark for the museum and attract an increasing number of visitors.

We became aware of the building, which is clad with black PREFA aluminium in a delicate standing seam technique, in Szentendre near Budapest and visited it for an extensive article about the modern museum concept in the PREFARENZEN journal 5.0.
