Super lightweight

The lightweight material used in PREFA roofs means far less need for new, expensive sub-structures: when renovating a roof, it’s often the case that the old truss has to first be prepared to take the super heavy weight of roof tiles for reasons of structural stability. A PREFA aluminium roof system weighs just 2.3–2.75 kg/m², meaning that in most cases there’s no need to give the truss additional reinforcement.

PREFA roof products

With a PREFA roof system, there’s no need to compromise on colour, shape or design. Check out all of our roof products, including pictures of real-life projects, here:

PREFA roof tiles: modern and classic, that’s roof tiles from PREFA.

Alongside our much-loved, seasoned classic for traditional and newer building projects alike, the PREFA roof tile (from 12°), we have also developed a sleek, elegant and modern alternative with our R.16 roof tile (from 17°).

PREFA roof shingles: As if tailored to your roof

The roof shingle (from 25°) combines the time-honoured rhomboid shape with the high-tech material of aluminium, making them the ideal product as much for classic, traditional roof designs as for more modern projects. The DS.19 roof shingle is raising the bar when it comes to format and application: installable from a pitch of just 17° and larger than a classic roof shingle at 480 × 262 mm.

PREFA rhomboid roof tiles: Well-known patterns reinterpreted

Rhomboid tiles give roofs, and also façades, an elegant scaled appearance with bold accents. Giving any property a truly unique character. Whether you opt for the larger 44 × 44 rhomboid roof tiles (from 12°) or the smaller 29 × 29 (from 22°), both products guarantee durability and extreme weather-resistance.

PREFA FX.12 roof panels: A lively interplay between light and shadow

PREFA FX.12 roof panels (from 17°) are innovative design elements that can be used to create futuristic-looking roof accents thanks to their parallel and transverse cants. With an appearance that changes depending on how the light falls, this product makes every building truly unique. Using two different format sizes – short and long – further reinforces this individual, asymmetric look.

Combining elasticity, elegance and endless possible configurations: The seamed roof from PREFA

Strip-shaped aluminium: PREFALZ and FALZONAL offer endless colour and shape combinations. By using aluminium, the PREFA standing seam is more elastic than most comparable seam materials, making it incredibly easy to work with. From a curved barrel roof to complicated roof extensions, domed roofs or large-scale roofs, this seam material can be used from a pitch of just 3° (according to specifications/restrictions in ÖNORM B 3521-1).

Use noise-insulating strips to make your PREFA roof quieter: Expert tip

Aluminium roofs are quieter than their reputation would have you believe. Everyone perceives noise differently. PREFA small-format products have noise-insulating strips (FD.TEC) to keep noise levels to a minimum. For even more comfort in residential buildings, we recommend additionally using a 3 mm bitumen separation layer.

Roof structure
:
PREFA as a cold roof or a warm roof?

PREFA aluminium roofs are produced with a ventilated sub-structure, with the roof cover and thermal insulation layer separated by a ventilated gap. This means that any occasional moisture (e.g. from condensation) can be wicked away. It is mostly the roof membrane that is ventilated, as shown in the first two pictures. However, the entire attic can be ventilated too (last picture).
